Sketch City is a local and international artist community providing opportunities for Melbourne artists to share and showcase their talent. Sketch City encompasses regular workshops and online tutorials, an online artists hub providing work and collaborative opportunities to its members and regular events and culture jams, giving artists the space to network and create new work in a social and relaxed environment.

The innovative concept is based on the need for a central and legal place artists can gather to explore ideas and create opportunities for one another. Sketch City focuses on encouraging collaboration, promoting tolerance and creating opportunities for artists… both locally and internationally.

Sketch City Australia is working in partnership with our partners in Manchester UK, where the event has been established for the past three and a half years and been solely responsible for building Manchester’s artistic community, and Sketch City Marcelle, France….

Sketch City Culture Jams!
We celebrate the beginning of each season of the year with our massive art parties… An interactive music & art event where everyone gets involved! Featuring music, visuals, installations and live painting and drawing, Sketch City offers artists the space to network, showcase their talent & create new work in a social & relaxed environment.

The idea is that the venue is transformed into a giant canvas with the venue walls available to paint on with fresh work each month, tables to draw on, unique installations to get creative with and all materials provided! Be inspired by Australias most talented street artists and be entertained by amazing local bands, Djs and performers, and a new Exhibition in our Gallery space every quarter!

Festivals and Other Events

Cant make it to Dazzeland? We can take Sketch City on the road! After hosting Sketch City areas at several festivals including Don’t Ban The Can, Noisefest and Youthfest, we want people to enjoy Sketch City’s creative vibes wherever they go! We have a mobile installation we set up outdoors for people to paint, draw and get creative on, while bringing feature artists with us to decorate the installation throughout the day, with comps hosted by We Make Stuff Good.

Get Involved

Sketch City is an unlimited collective and would love you to contribute to our flyer design, digital art and animation, workshops, fanzines, ideas and the organization of the event, as we give you the opportunity to expose your art to a greater community and become part of an international collective.

Exhibit in the Dazzeland Gallery!

Sketch City’s Gallery focuses entirely on providing exceptional opportunities to experiment and expand art practices drawing on artists from across Australia and the globe. The gallery consists of one exhibition space, as well as access to larger production space – walls. It provides a framework in which artists can communicate and collaborate. Sketch City Gallery is devoted and committed to the promotion and exchange of culture, street art and fine arts. It supports and exhibits the work of Australian and international artists who are considered instrumental to the artistic development and who actively seek to contribute to the art community Equally, Sketch City represents street artists, emerging artists, established artists who possess the recognisable potential to play a key role in future discourse.

Exhibiting in our gallery is FREE and we only take 15% commission – contact us for more info!

Sketch City is not-for-profit and funded by the event and the pocket of the organisers themselves. We are looking to extend sponsorship, whether the contribution is monetary or material, to keep Sketch City running and grow the concept to create greater opportunities for the artists involved.
